ABOUT THE AUTHOR
My name is Dahlia Rahaimy and I started SaudiTimes to bring clarity about an often-misunderstood society. The platform provides balanced, well-researched insights into Saudi Arabia, examining the cultural complexities of a nation undergoing rapid transformation. As a Saudi national born in Vienna and raised in Germany, Jeddah, and Dubai, I draw on a lifetime of contrasts to offer perspectives that bridge cultures.
My career began at Arab News, Saudi Arabia’s leading English-language newspaper, where I developed expertise in reporting, editing, and page-making. Over the years, I have contributed to international publications such as Kicker and Tageszeitung, as well as Arabic outlets like Alsharq Al-Awsat and Alriyadiah.
Later, at the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) - now the Ministry of Investment - I served as a press advisor and country director for Germany. These roles deepened my ability to communicate Saudi Arabia’s evolving identity to international audiences while fostering cross-cultural understanding.
Far from a personal blog, SaudiTimes is grounded in journalistic discipline. The platform digs into the nuances of Saudi society, challenging stereotypes and fostering dialogue. For readers both within Saudi Arabia and abroad, it offers a window into a society deeply rooted in tradition while embracing modernity.
Through SaudiTimes, I aim to present Saudi society as it truly is - its foundations, its present realities, and the forces shaping its future. The stories shared here go beyond the headlines, offering a rare glimpse into a nation in transition.
My work has also been featured on platforms such as the BBC and Deutsche Welle, where I have contributed to conversations on Saudi Arabia’s transformation. I am a wife and mother of a daughter and a son.
