A new center for science and technology called ‘ilmi’ will be launched in Saudi Arabia to encourage scientific curiosity among youth as well as develop their skills, Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday. The center’s goal is to nurture innovation, knowledge-sharing, and the development of future leaders in Saudi Arabia.

The new center, set to be open in 2025 will be located at Mohammed bin Salman Nonprofit City in Riyadh and set to open in 2025. It aims to be a beacon of creativity, learning, and accessibility, focusing on STREAM subjects (Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). Ilmi, a philanthropic initiative will feature permanent exhibitions, installations, learning programs, an integrated digital platform, and pop-up learning experiences to engage a wide audience.

There is definitely a need for such a center. To achieve progress, Saudi Arabia must lay the foundations for all industries it is targeting. Science and technology are crucial in today’s world, and the Saudi education system must catch up in many fields. This center is a great start, and other initiatives like this are needed to shape Saudi Arabia’s future.

  1. It is impossible to ignore the pivotal contributions of the Islamic Golden Age to Science and Mathematics, among other things. Indeed, the roots of modern Western civilization can be traced to the Arabic works from the 8th to 14th the century. Thus, this effort of Saudi Arabia to revitalize science, seems to point to a new Islamic renaissance in science. An effort that I hope is rewarded with a second Golden Age, God willing.
