A female Saudi soldier carrying a child during the Saudi relief mission in Sudan

Another milestone achieved by Saudi women soldiers as they become part of an international aid mission.

This photograph depicts a female Saudi soldier carrying a child during the Saudi relief mission in Sudan. The accomplishments of the Saudi troops, who helped rescue 2232 individuals from 67 different countries, were widely covered by international media.

To me, the most critical takeaway from this incident is that, despite the difficult conditions in Sudan, Saudi women can handle anything. They have and always had the ability, strength, and power to succeed in any -task they chose to undertake.

Since 2019, when the Saudi Armed Forces began admitting women, a significant number of them have been trained and graduated, with the most recent batch comprising 250 individuals in January 2023. This is a significant achievement in a country where women were not allowed to drive until 2018. Over the past five years, Saudi women have become visible in every domain in which they wish to be. Like many Saudi women, I believed that the proof of their abilities will come from within, without needing to be rescued, like many thought we did. I will never tire of experiencing this sensation and emphasizing the power of my compatriots, which was always there but is now visible to the world.
