Saudi female football teams are getting ready to start playing in the first Saudi Female Football League (WFL).
The league was set to start in October after being launched in February 2020 by the Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA).
Two years after women were allowed in stadiums, this is a step to boost female participation in sports. Yet hurdles are there. According to SFA, the WFL will not be broadcast on TV, it will not provide financial support to rent stadiums and not cover transportation costs.
Not an easy start but it is first step!
